James Russell's Eric Ravilious Masterclass

James Russell is a leading specialist on Eric Ravilious and curated the recent 2015 exhibition of watercolours at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. We are delighted to welcome him to the Battle Arts Festival to hear his own illustrated and down to earth presentation about Ravilious’ life and works.

catalogue coverA passionate advocate of 20th century British painting and design, James writes and lectures widely. His books include the popular four-volume series ‘Ravilious in Pictures’ as well as titles devoted to Edward Seago, Peggy Angus and Paul Nash. As a lecturer he has enjoyed speaking at a whole range of venues, including the V & A, the National Maritime Museum, as well as more locally at the Towner and Rye Arts Festival.

His presentation will last between 45-60 minutes and will include a question and answer session at the end.

Some of James’ books about Eric Ravilious and his work will be on sale both before and after the talk and he will be available for book signings.
