Battle Festival 2018 comes to a close after a packed month of events
November 3, 2018

Battle Festival is now a firm fixture in South East England’s cultural calendar and is by far the biggest and most eclectic festival in East Sussex.

This year has seen record audiences, with total numbers in excess of 7000, and sell out performances throughout the month of October, plus many fringe events. The Guardian and Observer newspapers have described our festival as ‘pick of the day’.

The Festival aims are to bring world class events to our beautiful town in Sussex, and to promote and nurture artistic talent. In pursuit of these aims we have commissioned new work, encouraged local choirs and artists as well as outreach work in local schools. We have worked with the NHS in staging ‘Unkindest Cut’, which responds to mental health issues through dance and music.

Huge thanks go to our our partners and sponsors who have enabled this to happen. They include KEANE, our patrons Anton Lesser and Tim Rice-Oxley, sponsors C.P.J. Field, Heringtons Solicitors, Battle Brewery, COOK, Robert Gee, Roy Holland accountants and Southern Energy Solutions. We have also received grants from the National Lottery and Battle Town Council.

We would also like to thank St Marys Church, Battle Baptist Church, Battle Abbey School, English Heritage, Battle Memorial Hall and Battle Brewery for staging our events.

2019 is not far away and we are planning some spectacular acts, if you would like to keep up to date with events please sign up for our newsletter.
