Windows of Martlet House
Battle Projects is a group of local professional artists aiming to encourage creativity within the community. They are Sam Peacock, Carne Griffiths, Kerry Bennett, Andy Hamblin, Juliette Dodd and Paul Shadbolt who have joined together with Helen Baker of The Crafty Norman.
For Battle Festival this year, the artists have worked with six local schools: Claverham, Battle & Langton, Netherfield, Battle Abbey, Vinehall , and Pestalozzi, using the theme “Memories by the Sea”.
Each of the artists has coached students within the schools. Using paints, inks, pens, pencils and their imagination, each student has created a piece of themed work on 10x10cm quality art paper. Each artist has also produced work which has been added to the final pieces.
The final works for each school, curated by the artists, can be seen throughout October in the windows of Martlet House in Battle.
The artists will welcome visitors to an open day in The Wynne Room upstairs at Battle Memorial Hall on Sunday 14 October, 10am-4pm, where quality prints of each work will be available to purchase.
Prints will also be available from The Crafty Norman throughout October. Any profits will be donated to a local charity.
