Battle Abbey - The Abbots Hall

“A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life” - the greatest love story ever told performed in Battle Abbey Abbot’s Hall as part of Battle Festival. Boy meets girl and they fall in love in Shakespeare’s most romantic story, but can the romance last when their families are at war and the fates themselves foretell their tragic deaths?

Bowler Crab is a Sussex-based theatre company which specialises in Shakespearean performance and their company objective is to complete the canon at least once. BC’s theatrical style can be considered as a mixture of minimalism and traditionalism, aiming to bring Shakespearean language to life using literary themes. Founded in 2013 by Artistic Director, Stephen John, BC had performed their first five Shakespeares by the end of 2014, all open-air at Half House Farm in Three Oaks. In 2015, the company began touring to indoor theatres across Sussex and Kent. The company then developed shortened ‘pocket’ production versions of their works to schools, festivals and as dining experiences. ‘Romeo & Juliet’ is the latest pocket, created by popular demand following BC’s original 2014 show. BC’s last visit to Battle sold out in advance so book your tickets now!
