KEANE BAND MEMBERS TIM RICE-OXLEY & JESSE QUINN TO PLAY BATTLE FESTIVAL
September 20, 2017

Battle Festival patron Tim Rice-Oxley and Keane band mate Jesse Quin to perform one-off show in aid of Battle Festival.

Battle Festival are pleased to announce that patron Tim Rice-Oxley, and Keane band mate Jesse Quin will bring their band Mt Desolation to Battle on Saturday 21st October for an intimate show at St Mary’s Church.

Mt. Desolation was formed in 2010 by Keane band mates Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin. The idea, as with the start of most bands, was simple – get some friends together and make some music. And drink beer. And avoid having a proper job. But still work hard.  Ish. The band went into London’s Eastcote studios in January that year with thick snow outside and a French chef who was supposed to be the sound engineer. At the helm was one of the finest Americans to have ever sung the Star-Spangled Banner – Mr Emery Dobyns. And thus Mt. Desolation’s debut album was made. It was supposed to be a country album, but what do a bunch of English dudes know about country music? Not much. But the songs did have the laughter, tears and storytelling qualities of the great American songbook.

Roll forward a few years and the band are finally back together and down at Tim’s studio. The song writing this time still has the same storytelling quality but the music has become less country and everything hangs a little more on the lives and experiences (both musical and otherwise) of the band. The palette of sounds has broadened. But the most important thing still remains, a bunch of friends playing music in a room. And drinking beer.

Now, Mt. Desolation is once again attempting to get their instruments vaguely in tune and go and play the songs live… Make sure you catch them.
