Get ready for a globe-trotting, imagination-stretching Battle Festival Scarecrow Competition in 2026.
This year we are inviting entrants to create scarecrows inspired by countries, cultures, landmarks, traditions or iconic figures from around the world.
Where will your scarecrow take us?
Get Involved!
This competition is for everyone! It’s a fantastic opportunity to let your creativity and imagination take us on a trip around the world!
Saturday 11th July – Sunday 26th July
Open to all (incl. individuals, families, school and community groups, businesses)
Organised by Wild About Battle and kindly supported by Graham Peters.
Design and create: Think worldwide, pick a country and dress your scarecrow to match the destination. It could be traditional clothing or as a character from a country’s folklore or mythology. What about a scarecrow inspired by a famous landmark? Or maybe a playful interpretation of global travel, exploration or cultural exchange. Anything that celebrates our wonderfully diverse world!
Display: Scarecrow will be displayed in various locations throughout Battle, from shops to community spaces.
Dates: The competition runs from 11 -26 July 2026. Make sure your scarecrow is ready in time!
Judging: Scarecrows will be judged on creativity, originality, and how well they reflect the theme "Battle Scarecrows Go Global", in the following four categories: Individual/Family; Junior Community Group; Adult Community Group; and Best Business. The winners of each category then have a chance to be Best in Show champion!
Judging day: Saturday, 11 July 2026
Prize Giving: Sunday 26 July 2026, 2pm, Abbey Green, Battle.
